New Year’s Day – 108 Sun Salutations to Benefit RAICES

Join us New Year’s Day in inspiring change with a Yoga Mala of 108 Sun Salutations to benefit RAICES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low cost legal services to immigrant children, families and refugees in Central and South Texas.

Raices has been overwhelmed in recent weeks as they receive hundreds of Central American women and children who were released en masse from immigration detention centers in Dilley and Karnes. The centers were abruptly closed by a judicial order that found them unsuitable for children and families. Raices is coordinating a large scale community-based response to feed, house and humanely care for these women and their children as they navigate the systems to process their requests for asylum.

Hands on with various oils and discussion around why / how they work and protocols to support body systems. 45 min. yoga class – In this gentle class segment, we will learn self care techniques and enjoy restorative poses that offer deep relaxation.

Come learn more about how to strengthen often underused musculature of the hips and legs while also mobilizing overused tissues through Yoga Tune Up methodology and therapy ball work.  This workshop will expand your understanding of ‘Hip Openers,’ change the way you view your pelvis, and show you how to make your hips happier through embodied anatomy, conscious movement, improved alignment, and mobility work.

These classes are designed to help you become familiar with basic yoga postures, breathing techniques, and proper alignment. If you’ve been curious about yoga, but maybe a little intimidated walking into a class, this series may be for you. These six-week sessions are designed for anyone new to hatha yoga or continuing students interested in reconnecting to the fundamentals of a physical yoga practice. This series will prepare students for the ongoing classes at the studio.

These classes are for true beginners to yoga, or for those who have not had a class for a long time, or for anyone with a curiosity about the language and props used in yoga wanting a thorough foundation.

Preregistration is REQUIRED for Intro to Yoga Series, and no drop-in students are allowed.
